Tuesday July 22, 2003

This year we decided to extend the traditional meet by an extra day. This would give everyone the opportunity to get in town early, relax and enjoy the terrific things we have planned. Today, we have created wonderful opportunities for the Funeral Directors and Fire/Rescue/EMS professionals.

For Funeral Directors, an (air-conditioned) shuttle-bus tour has been arranged to visit "Mortuaries of Distinction" as well as the completely new Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. We expect to tour other points of interest as well and provide a surprise or two. Continuing Education Credit may be available. This tour will be FREE of charge.

For Fire/Rescue and EMS enthusiasts, an (air-conditioned) shuttle-bus tour has been arranged to visit the City of Pittsburgh EMS and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire training facilities. Additionally, we intend to tour the Center for Emergency Medicine an internationally acclaimed training facility for pre-hospital workers. We will tour other points of interest as well and will provide a surprise or two. This tour will be FREE of charge.

What's a PCS Meet without a "Driving Tour"? Wednesday's luncheon tour will begin from the Host Hotel at 10:30am and we will caravan North 1/2 hour to Historic McConnel's Mill State Park. The park features a completely restored rolling gristmill that was originally constructed in 1868 and is featured in the Registered National Historic List. The State Park also offers whitewater boating, rafting, rappelling, biking, rock climbing, swimming and hiking. Following the tour, the Tri-State Chapter will host a FREE picnic luncheon for our guests and give everyone the opportunity to relax and spend the remainder of the day on your own.

Today's tour will feature an afternoon (air-conditioned) motor coach trip to beautiful downtown Pittsburgh. We will arrive at 1:00pm at the Senator John Heinz Regional History Center. This fabulous facility is located in Pittsburgh's Strip District, known for the daily hustle and bustle of the whole-salers distributing market fresh produce, fish, meats and poultry to the region. The tours will will detail Pittsburgh's history and will feature; "Points in Time," "Eye of the Storm," "Civil War Drawings," "Pittsburgh Glass," and the "Heinz" Exhibitions.

Join us for the Four Points Breakfast Buffet from 8:00-9:00am before the Annual Membership Meeting.

Following the meeting, (air-conditioned) motor coaches will leave for downtown Pittsburgh, arriving at the Station Square Pier for a Three Rivers Stern Wheeler Cruise. The Gateway Clipper Fleet will be at our service for this luncheon cruise. The fleet is known for its excellent cuisine and accommodating atmosphere. Following the cruise, our Stern Wheeler will dock at the Carnegie Science Center on Pittsburgh's North Side. Featured at the Science Center are numerous displays and exhibits including a true Omnimax Theatre, shows will be scheduled hourly. We'll also tour an authentic WW-II Submarine and visit the areas largest Miniature Railroad and Village display.

We will return to the Host Hotel at the end of the day to get ready for an "Ultimate Car Cruise." Dinner will be on your own and in addition to the hotel, there are many fabulous restaurants just minutes away! The host hotel has given permission for us to host a car cruise at the hotel. We are inviting members of area car clubs and owners of vintage automobiles to come to the hotel and cruise through the lots. We'll supply the DJ, spinning oldies and lots of surprises well into the evening.

Judgment Day! The Concours d'Elegance and judging of professional coaches and horse-drawn vehicles will commence in the late morning and run through mid-afternoon. Anyone wishing to have their vehicles judged must comply with the guidelines published in the latest PCS Judging Manual. No cars will be judged without a minimum 2-1/2 lb. ABC Fire Extinguisher.

Photographs will be available throughout the day for those wishing a portrait of their car. Additionally, a photo line-up of all the cars will be coordinated following the judging. There will be a Model Contest inside the Host Hotel in our display room. Prizes will be awarded for judged model classes.

Following the Car Show, we invite everyone to attend the Grand Banquet inside the Four Points Hotel. Cocktails will be available during happy hour beginning at 6:00pm. The Banquet will begin at 7:00pm and guests will be treated to an excellent dinner. A short program will begin our evening and a surprise keynote speaker will provide historical relevance to our shared hobby. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening and special Custom Designed awards will be distributed to winners in all classes of Professional Car. These awards were commissioned specifically for this Meet! The evening will conclude with a Light and Siren Finale that will no doubt be heard in Pittsburgh!

Our Tri-State Meet Committee has done a tremendous job designing a world class event! We continue to refine our existing plans and develop additional opportunites for our guests to experience a terrific time in Pittsburgh. Don't miss this event, it's going to be huge and a bit different than meets of the past.
